Spiced & Fruity! – White Wine, Rum & Apple Cider Cocktail

It’s always fun to come up with a new cocktail with Halloween in mind. This year, we’ve combined one of the most iconic Fall flavors, apple cider, with aged rum, orange liqueur, and a crisp white wine.

For a dry white wine, it is best to use a pinot grigio or a chardonnay. They are rich varieties with some fruity notes of apples and a citrusy acidity. Spiced rum and orange liqueur are classically paired for this libation. The blend of tangy citrus and warm spice flavors in the Cointreau balances out the sweetness of the rum and cider. And don’t leave out the orange bitters! The notes of dried orange peels, cloves, and cardamom in the orange bitters impart a toasty Autumn feel to the drink that complements the fresh apple flavor. A splash of club soda lightens up the cocktail, if desired. The finishing touches of apple slices and rosemary sprigs complete this Fall and Halloween cocktail in style!
